Our review
Flik is an ant who does not fit in. Mean grasshoppers make the ants give them food every year. Flik sets out to free his colony. He shows that small ones can stand up to bullies when they stand together. A weak people stands up to a tyrant, and a misfit is willing to give everything for his colony. Greydanus rates it a B and finds it morally neutral. Expect bullying and threats from the grasshoppers that can frighten the youngest viewers.

G, and Common Sense Media says five and up. Greydanus at Decent Films says Kids & Up and warns of scenes of physical abuse and verbal intimidation. Things to know: Hopper and his grasshoppers bully the colony and threaten the queen's life. Scowling, threatening insects and birds may scare small children. The heroes face fire, rain, falls and capture. Common Sense Media logs a few uses of 'poo-poo,' 'butt' and 'damn.' No sexual content, drinking or product placement is logged. Ask: why were the ants afraid for so long when there were so many of them? What made Flik brave? Who are the bullies that need many people to say no together?
