Acceptable. Age: 6+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.

Our review

Amelia Bedelia starts a new job as a maid for the Rogers family. She does exactly what her list says, word for word. When it says dust the furniture, she puts dusting powder all over it! It is clean wordplay that teaches how English idioms work. There is nothing to correct, but little moral depth. Acceptable at +3. One age: 6+, set by Lumen's read-alone age and Common Sense Media.

For parents

Age 6+, set by Lumen's read-alone age and Common Sense Media, which agree; the publisher says 4 to 7. Read it aloud from 5. Laugh at the mix-ups together, then ask what the list really meant. A good chance to talk about being patient when others make honest mistakes.
