Angels in the Outfield
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 6+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
A hard man is changed by a child's prayer, and the film says plainly that angels are real. The nuns are warm and the priest, minister and rabbi all defend belief. One correction is needed. These angels are dead ballplayers, and the Church teaches that angels are pure spirits God made as angels. People in heaven are saints.
For parents
Good for ages six and up with a parent nearby. Expect fistfights, a drunk man, and lots of smoking. Correct the angel story: people do not become angels (CCC 328-330). Ask: whose prayer started everything? Why did the manager have to change before help came?
