Apollo 13
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
Three astronauts fly toward the Moon. Then part of their ship blows up. The crew and the team on Earth work hard together to bring them home alive. This is a true story of courage, teamwork and calm under pressure. Nothing in it attacks the faith or needs undoing, but the language and long peril need a parent nearby. The one age is 13, set by the USCCB's A-II classification.
For parents
Best for 13 and up. The USCCB's A-II sets the age; Common Sense Media says 11+. Expect real fear, tense danger and some swearing and smoking. Talk about how no one gave up, and how each person did his own small job well. Ask: what do you do when the plan fails? Who do we turn to when we are afraid? This is a good moment to pray together for people in danger.
