Our review
There is real good here: friends who stay loyal, a spirit librarian who forbids using knowledge for violence, and Jet and Iroh giving themselves up for others. But Season 1 tells a legend of two women lovers whose love a whole city was built to honor, and in a series children love, that alone makes it Not recommended. The violence is also far harsher than the cartoon's.
For parents
Lumen does not recommend it. Many kids know the cartoon, so if yours ask, say why: Season 1 presents a same-sex romance as something to celebrate, and the fire violence is rough. Ask: what makes Iroh's surrender brave? Who really holds the world together, a reborn Avatar or God?
