Building 903
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 9+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.
Our review
A short dystopian tale about a girl who loves her brother and learns that stories matter. Loyalty, courage and truth-telling come through clearly. The reservation: imagination is called the revolution, and one reviewer says a prayer rescues Theo at the end, though we could not confirm to whom it is prayed.
For parents
Read aloud from 7; read alone from 9. Common Sense Media says 8+ and the publisher says 8 to 12, so 9 is Lumen's own call. Ask: who is Theo praying to? Can imagination save anyone, or only God? See Catechism 2559-2565 on prayer.
