Our review
A clean, cheerful camp musical. A brother and sister who stopped speaking learn to forgive, a misfit band learns to trust each other, and the bully's tricks are not rewarded. The one reservation is the closing message. Plugged In notes a 'my way' theme, and the finale has a girl rejecting her parents' wishes for her music. That is worth a word with your kids.
For parents
Good for kids eight and up. Expect crushes, an almost-kiss and two uses of 'OMG.' Ask: how did Sage and Desi make peace? A daughter can follow a dream and still honor her parents, so talk about how she might have done both. Who was a true friend at camp?
