Caps for Sale
Acceptable. Age: 5+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.
Our review
A man sells caps that he wears stacked on his head. While he naps, monkeys take his caps up into a tree. When he gets mad and throws his cap down, the monkeys copy him, and he gets them all back. It is a funny, harmless story with little to teach. The peddler gets his caps back by losing his temper, so it is worth a word about patience.
For parents
Age 5+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; Common Sense Media says 4 and up. Read it aloud from 3. Laugh at the monkeys. Then ask how the peddler felt, and what we can do instead of stamping and throwing when we are angry.
