Daniel and the Fiery Furnace

2026 · Matthew Kooman and Daniel Kooman · Biblical drama

Acceptable with guidance. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.

Our review

Faith under pressure is the whole story, and it is told straight. Three young men choose the fire over idolatry, prayer drives the plot, and God answers. That builds real faith and hope. The honest reservation: the film adds a lot to Daniel 1 to 3, including a romance and Daniel designing the idol himself, and the war violence is hard for younger children.

For parents

For teens, and for mature 11 and 12 year olds with a parent. Read Daniel 1 and 3 together afterward, including the Prayer of Azariah in a Catholic Bible, and sort out what the film invented. Ask: was Daniel right to build the statue if he never bowed to it? What would it cost you to refuse to bow?
