Ginger Pye

Our review
Jerry Pye earns a dollar by dusting a church and buys a puppy he names Ginger. Then Ginger is stolen, and Jerry and his sister Rachel search for him. Months later, a clue leads to the truth, and Ginger comes home. It is a warm family mystery about love for a pet and patient searching, with nothing a parent must correct. Age 8+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; no publisher age or Common Sense Media review was found.
For parents
Age 8+, set by Lumen's read-alone age. No Common Sense Media review or publisher age was found. Read it aloud from about 6. The children first suspect a stranger in a yellow hat, and the thief turns out to be a boy they know (SuperSummary), a good moment to talk about rash judgment (CCC 2477). Expect mild suspense. Jerry earns the puppy's price by honest work.
