Hugo

Our review
Hugo is an orphan boy who lives inside a train station in Paris. He fixes a broken machine his father left him. It helps him find out that a sad old toy seller was once a famous movie maker. This is a beautiful film about purpose, mending what is broken, and welcoming an orphan home. The one age is 13, set by the Church's A-II rating. Expect a father's death in a fire, chases, peril, and a drunk uncle.
For parents
The one age is 13, set by the Church's A-II rating. Common Sense Media says 8+ and the MPA rates it PG. Expect a father dying in a fire, a boy hanging from a clock tower, a dream of a train crash, a drunk uncle, and a station inspector who chases orphans. This is a gift of a film. Hugo says every machine has a purpose, and so does every person. Ask: who gave you your purpose? How did Hugo and Isabelle help Georges be glad again? Talk about orphans and how a family can open its door.
