I Confess

Our review

A priest would sooner hang than break the seal of confession, and Hitchcock makes you feel what that costs. Father Logan is silent, mocked and tried, and at the end he absolves the man who framed him. Few films honor the priesthood this well. The reservation: there is murder and gunfire, and a woman's past love for Logan drives the plot.

For parents

For teens and up, though Catholic families have shown it younger. Several people are shot. Ruth, now married, still loves Logan from before he was ordained. He does not return it. Ask: why can a priest never reveal a confession, even to save his own life? Why does he forgive Keller?
