I Swear

2026 · Kirk Jones · Biographical comedy-drama

Acceptable with guidance. Age: 17+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.

Our review

A story about mercy. John is punished, mocked and nearly lost to despair for tics he cannot help, and he is saved by people who choose to see the man and not the noise. Dottie and Tommy show what welcome looks like, and John turns his suffering into service. The reservation is the language: nearly constant obscenity, and Christ's name misused, as part of the condition.

For parents

For adults. The R is for language that never lets up, and Common Sense Media says 15 and up; Lumen sets 17 as the youngest, and then with a parent. Ask: who in John's life acted like the Good Samaritan? How do we treat people whose struggles we do not understand?
