Recommended. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.

Our review

Iñigo is a proud soldier who gets badly hurt in a battle. While he heals, he reads about Jesus and the saints and decides to serve God instead. He prays alone in a cave, fights temptation, and writes a way of prayer that helps many people. It is honest about his temper and clear about grace, but the penance scenes are intense and the devil appears in person.

For parents

Ages 13 and up, set by the PG-13 (reported by The Catholic Thing). Expect a battle, a leg rebroken, harsh self-flagellation, the devil as tempter, and a brothel scene where Ignatius refuses a woman. Explain that his excess penance was a stage he outgrew. Ask how he learned to tell God's voice from the tempter's.
