Katy and the Big Snow
Recommended. Age: 6+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.
Our review
Katy is a big red tractor who plows snow in winter. One day a huge snowstorm buries the whole city. The doctor, the firemen and everyone else are stuck, and they all need Katy to dig them out. It is a happy picture of hard work done for others, and Seton puts it in kindergarten. There is nothing to correct. One age: 6, set by Lumen's read-alone age; the publisher says 4 to 7.
For parents
Age 6+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; the publisher says 4 to 7. Read it aloud from 3. A house is on fire and a patient needs the hospital, but nothing is shown that should scare a small child. Ask who in your town works to keep others safe, and say a prayer for them.
