The Lady of Guadalupe
Recommended. Age: 8+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.
Our review
Juan Diego is a poor farmer in Mexico. In 1531 the Mother of God appears to him. He carries roses in his cloak to the bishop, and her picture is left on the cloak. Catholic Mom calls it a good account, and the parts we could check match the Church's account. Recommended at +7. One age: 8+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; retailers list 6-12.
For parents
Age 8+, set by Lumen's read-alone age. Read it aloud from 6; Catholic Mom says the text is wordy for little ones. Tell your child St. Juan Diego is a canonized saint and the tilma is still in Mexico City. Ask why Mary chose a poor man.
