Our review

Digory and Polly use Uncle Andrew's magic rings to travel to other worlds. Digory wakes the wicked Queen Jadis, and she follows them, even into a new world where the lion Aslan sings Narnia into being. To fix his mistake, Digory must bring back a magic apple and not steal one for himself. Recommended. Age 9, set by Lumen's own read-alone age.

For parents

Age 9, set by Lumen's own read-alone age; no Common Sense Media or publisher age was found. Read it aloud from 6. Per Plugged In, Uncle Andrew's guinea pigs die in his experiments, Jadis kicks Digory until his mouth bleeds, and she wiped out all life in Charn. Uncle Andrew drinks brandy. Ask: why was ringing the bell wrong? Why did Digory refuse the apple, even for his mother?
