Masters of the Universe
Caution. Age: 18+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
The story is a plain fight of good against evil, and Adam grows from a bumbler into a leader who tries words before swords. A drunken mentor sobers up, and the closing note is kindness. The trouble is the packaging: steady sexual double entendres, frequent and sometimes harsh violence, at least two s-words and God's name used as a curse. That is why OSV rates it for adults.
For parents
For adults, by the OSV News A-III classification; Common Sense says 12+. The magic is fantasy on an invented planet. Ask: why does Adam try talking before fighting? What helped Duncan stop drinking? Talk about why God's name is never a curse word.
