Owl Moon

Our review
On a cold winter night, a little girl goes owling with her father for the first time. They walk through the quiet woods, and Pa calls to the owl. At last a great horned owl calls back and they see it. It is a quiet book about patience, silence and hope, with a father who leads well. Nothing in it needs correcting. Age 7+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; Penguin says 3 to 7, so read it aloud from 3.
For parents
Age 7+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; Penguin says 3 to 7. Read it aloud from 3. The night woods may feel a little spooky to a small child, but nothing bad happens. Ask why the girl had to be quiet, and how waiting for the owl is like waiting on God. Take a walk at night and listen.
