Our review

Billy is a boy in Saskatchewan who loves animals. He rescues two baby owls, Wol and Weeps, and keeps them at home. The owls cause funny trouble until Billy's family has to move away. It is a warm, funny story with a kind rescue at its heart. One reviewer says some harm to animals is played for laughs, so preview it first. Age 8, set by Lumen's read-alone age; no Common Sense Media age, publisher age or Catholic review was found.

For parents

Age 8, set by Lumen's read-alone age because of the animal harm. No publisher age, Common Sense Media age, or Catholic placement was found. Read it aloud from 6 and skim ahead for the crow shooting and the cat. Ask whether the boys were kind to the animals in each scene.
