Ramona and Beezus

Our review
Ramona Quimby is a lively third grader who makes big messes by accident. Her dad loses his job, and her family may have to move. Ramona tries to help and learns how much her family loves her. It is a warm, funny film about family, money worries and sisters. The one age is 6, set by Common Sense Media (G). Expect mild slapstick, a pet cat that dies, and a teen couple's kiss.
For parents
One age: 6, set by Common Sense Media (G). No Church rating found. Talk about it: Ramona's father loses his job and the family worries about money; Ramona runs away after a scolding; a cat dies (not shown, per Kids-In-Mind); and Beezus is mortified by her sister. Kids-In-Mind logs a teen couple's kiss and dance, adults kissing, and a man joking about an ancient burial ground and acting like a zombie to chase children. Language is mild name-calling and one 'Jesus' as an exclamation per Plugged In. Plugged In notes a wedding in a small church and a joke about an ancient curse. Ask: What did Ramona do wrong, and what did she do right? How does your family handle money trouble?
