Ramona Quimby, Age 8

1981 ยท Beverly Cleary ยท Chapter book (realistic family humor)

Acceptable. Age: 8+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.

Our review

Ramona Quimby has a hard time at school. A raw egg breaks on her head, and she hears her teacher call her a show-off. Her mother says she is sorry, Ramona forgives her, and she talks with her teacher. A funny, kind book about a real family, with only mild name-calling. Nothing for a parent to correct. Age 8, set by Plugged In's 8 to 12 range; no Common Sense Media book review was found.

For parents

Age 8, set by Plugged In's 8 to 12 range. No Common Sense Media age was found. Read it aloud from 6. Ramona is angry at her mother for a while and name-calls a classmate. Ask how she and her mother make peace.
