Our review
Rocky is a poor boxer in Philadelphia who gets a surprise chance to fight the world champion. He trains very hard and falls in love with a shy woman named Adrian. He does not care about winning, only about lasting the whole fight. It is a great underdog film with real perseverance and tenderness in it, but it has bloody boxing, steady mild-to-moderate profanity, drinking and smoking, and Adrian moving into Rocky's apartment unmarried. The one age is 13, set by Lumen's own call on the language and the living arrangement; Common Sense Media says 11 and the MPA says PG.

One age: 13, set by Lumen's own call. Common Sense Media says 11 and the MPA says PG. Expect bloody boxing (a swollen eye cut open), a drunk Paulie smashing things with a bat, steady mild and moderate profanity with a few uses of God's name (Parent Previews), smoking and drinking, and references to sex. Adrian moves into Rocky's apartment after a fight at home, unmarried, and the film never questions it. Talk about it: Rocky gives up smoking and drinking to train. What does self-control buy him? Why does going the distance matter more to him than winning? What should Rocky and Adrian have done before living together?
