Schindler's List
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 18+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
This is a conversion story told at the scale of the Holocaust. Schindler begins as a bribing, womanizing opportunist and ends weeping that he could have saved one more. The film refuses despair without softening the evil. Our reservation is content, not message: the camp nudity is harrowing, and a few sexual scenes with nudity are not. Adults only, and worth it.
For parents
For adults and the oldest teens with a parent beside them. Ask: what changed Schindler, and when did he first choose a person over profit? Read the Talmud line he is given, then John 15:13. Name the sexual scenes beforehand so no one is ambushed. CCC 1931 on the neighbor as another self.
