SIX: The Musical Live!
Caution. Age: 15+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
The music is strong and the cast is excellent. Under the jokes there are real wounds: a queen cast off, a wife who died in childbirth, a girl abused by older men. The show gives them a voice and ends in friendship, not rivalry. The reservation is the answer it offers. Worth comes from yourself, and the sexual swagger is played for laughs.
For parents
For older teens, about 15 and up. Expect sexy choreography, crude lyrics and some swearing. Ask: where does a person's worth come from, from a husband, from yourself, or from God? Catherine of Aragon held to her marriage vows; why? How does the show treat Katherine Howard's abuse?
