Spider-Man: Brand New Day

2026 · Destin Daniel Cretton · Superhero action

Caution. Age: 18+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.

Our review

The heart is good. Peter learns that isolation is a trap, takes a bullet to shield someone, and the film shows vengeance as a dead end next to compassion. Friends who stay loyal matter here. The cost is the dialogue: Plugged In counts sixteen misuses of God's and Jesus' names, plus steady crude talk from the Punisher. That is why OSV rates it for adults.

For parents

For adults by the OSV classification; many families will judge older teens case by case after hearing the language. Ask: why is asking for help a kind of humility? Why does Peter refuse the Punisher's way? Talk about the Second Commandment and why God's name is never a curse word.
