St. Giuseppe Moscati: Doctor to the Poor

2007 · Giacomo Campiotti · Television saint biography (Italian miniseries)

Acceptable with guidance. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this show for parents.

Our review

Saint Giuseppe Moscati was a brilliant doctor who treated the poor of Naples for nothing, and this film makes holiness in an ordinary profession look possible and attractive. That is its great gift. The reservation is that the makers invented a love interest and a rival to shape the drama, so it is not straight biography. We could not verify the content.

For parents

For teens and adults, in Italian with subtitles, in two long parts. Preview it, since we found no content log. The story includes a mistress, a child born outside marriage, and deaths from disease. Tell viewers the romance and the rival are fiction. Ask: how did Moscati treat a patient who could not pay?
