Our review

The Little family adopts a small talking mouse named Stuart. Their son George and their cat Snowbell do not want him at first. After Stuart is tricked away from home, he finds his way back, and the whole family, even the cat, learns he belongs. A gentle story about adoption and belonging, with a family that simply loves. The one age is 13, set by the USCCB classification of A-II; Common Sense Media says 7+ and the MPAA says PG.

For parents

One age: 13, set by the USCCB classification A-II (adults and adolescents), via formationreimagined.org. Common Sense Media says 7+ and the MPAA rated it PG for language and tension; the gap is wide, and the content below is what you are weighing. Plugged In counts four mild profanities (damn, hell), and Common Sense Media adds 'shut up' and 'loser.' The alley cat gang plans to kill Stuart and chases him through Central Park, and a cat puts Stuart in his mouth, which may scare small children (Common Sense Media, Wikipedia). Two mice lie that they are Stuart's real parents (Wikipedia). For adopted children this is a lovely film, but the false-parents twist can sting, so watch with them. Talk about it: What makes a family a family? How did Snowbell change, and what did it cost him to tell the truth?
