Swimmy
Recommended. Age: 6+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.
Our review
A tuna swallows all of Swimmy's fish friends, and he is left alone and sad. He finds new fish who are too scared to come out. Swimmy makes a plan so they can all explore the sea together. It praises courage, cleverness and working together. Recommended at +4. One age: 6+, set by Lumen's read-alone age (Common Sense Media says 4+, the publisher 3 to 7).
For parents
Age 6+, set by Lumen's read-alone age; Common Sense Media says 4+ and the publisher 3 to 7. Read it aloud from 4. The opening loss may sadden a small child, so pause there. Ask how Swimmy turned his sadness into help for others, and how a family or parish is stronger together.
