The Dream Keeper Saga

Our review
Lily is sad because her dad died. A dragon takes her to a dream world where she must fight bad creatures. She learns to pray for help, and help comes. Pax the unicorn stands in for Christ, Eymah for Satan, and the bully Adam gets a real second chance. The reservation: a Reformed author's allegory, so the Church and sacraments never appear, and Greek harpies share the stage with the Christ figure.
For parents
Read aloud from about 7, independent reading 9 to 12. Ask: who does Pax remind you of, and why does Lily have to ask before he comes? Then say what the allegory leaves out: Christ gives himself to us in the Eucharist, not only in a story (CCC 1324).
