Our review

A little fox named Tod and a hunting dog named Copper become best friends when they are young. When they grow up, Copper is trained to hunt foxes, and their friendship is tested. In the end, each one saves the other's life. It is a sad and lovely story about loyalty and mercy, with a few scary hunting scenes. The one age is 6, set by Common Sense Media (6+); the MPAA says G and no Catholic classification was found.

For parents

One age: 6, set by Common Sense Media (6+). The MPAA rating is G and we found no Catholic classification. Common Sense Media notes that Tod's mother is shot off screen, the hunter shoots at Tod, sets traps and burns his den, Chief is hit by a train, and a bear attack ends with a fall from a cliff. Common Sense also notes that birds and a caterpillar are electrocuted. Sensitive children may need a hand to hold. There is light flirting between foxes and a few mild insults. Talk about it: Why did Copper stand in front of the gun? Is it right to want revenge when someone you love is hurt? How did Tod return good for evil?
