Our review
Gordon Bombay is a selfish lawyer who gets in trouble for driving after drinking. As his punishment, he must coach a kids' hockey team that always loses. He learns to play fair and have fun, and the team learns to win together. The story corrects itself: the coach's cheating backfires, and fair play wins out. Expect some rough words and an early drunk-driving arrest. Our age is 10 and up, set by Common Sense Media, since no Catholic classification was found.
For parents
Our age is 10 and up, set by Common Sense Media's 10+ (MPA rated PG for mild profanity and hockey violence). No bishops' classification was found. Expect words like 'bastards', 'bitch' and 'damn', a few crude sexual jokes from the kids, a drunk-driving arrest, swimsuit magazines, and hockey checks. Ask: why didn't faking injuries work? What changed in Coach Bombay? Why is playing fair better than winning by cheating?
