A gentle, smart Austen spin-off about an overlooked young woman who grows in courage and refuses to marry a man she does not love. It ends in a real marriage. Reservations: one off-screen bedroom moment with moaning and a bare shoulder, a mother's cruelty, and a message that leans toward following your own desires. Fine for teens, with a word.

Best for teens 13 and up. Common Sense Media says 11+, but it rates sexual content 'A lot,' even though it stays off screen. Ask: why did Mary say no to a rich man she did not love? How can you honor a parent who hurts you and still speak the truth kindly?
