Our review
A new boy in town joins a group of kids who play baseball every day. He loses his stepdad's special signed ball over a fence where a scary dog lives. The boys work together to get it back. But the language is rough, the boys chew tobacco, and a boy tricks a teenage lifeguard into a kiss. The one age is 13, set by the Church's A-II rating.
For parents
The one age is 13, set by the Church's A-II rating. Expect a lot of rough language, including a few s-words, boys chewing tobacco until they are sick, and a scene where a boy fakes drowning to trick a teenage lifeguard into a kiss. The camera also lingers on women's bodies. Correct that scene plainly. Tricking someone to get a kiss is a lie, and girls are not things to stare at. Ask: was Squints brave or dishonest? How did Benny treat the new kid? Why did Scotty tell the truth to his stepdad?
