Our review
A humble, suffering priest becomes pope and carries the office with prayer and courage. The Vatican pageantry is shown with respect, and obedience to the Church is honored. The reservation is the theology. The pope's dearest friend is a priest whose ideas the Church censures, a marriage subplot implies adultery, and the ending solves the world's crisis too easily.
For parents
For teens and adults who can sit through a long, talky film. Explain that Fr. Telemond's ideas are censured for a reason, and that he obeys. Ask: why does Kiril keep praying when he is afraid? Is selling the Church's goods really how peace is made?
