Unbroken: Path to Redemption
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
Louis comes home from war, but bad dreams about his time as a prisoner will not leave him. He drinks too much and almost loses his wife. At a big revival meeting he gives his life to Jesus and forgives the men who hurt him. The film never asks why Louis, raised Catholic, finds Jesus outside the Church. Expect nightmares, heavy drinking, one mild curse and a wartime racial slur.
For parents
Ages 13 and up, set by CNS A-II. Common Sense Media reports nightmares of beatings, lashing out at his wife, heavy drinking and a racial slur. Praise the forgiveness. Then note the film gives his Catholic upbringing one brief scene. The same Jesus waits in confession and the Eucharist.
