Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 7+. A Catholic review of this show for parents.
Our review
A goofy family sitcom where the Russos stick together and siblings have each other's backs. That loyalty is the best thing here. The reservations are real: spells and curses are the family trade in a modern-day setting, and lying, sass toward parents and mild innuendo get laughs. Season 3 has no content review of its own yet, so this verdict is provisional.
For parents
Fine from about seven with a parent's word. Common Sense Media says six and up. Tell kids the magic is make-believe, and that real spells and curses are something the Church forbids. Ask: what did the Russos do right when they stuck together? Was the lying funny, or did it hurt someone?
