Wreck-It Ralph

Our review
Ralph is the bad guy in an old video game, and he is tired of it. He sneaks into other games to win a medal. He meets a girl racer named Vanellope and learns to be a real friend. Ralph wants a medal to be liked, and learns that giving himself up for a friend matters more. That is a good lesson told with real heart. The one age is 13, set by the CNS A-II rating; Common Sense Media says 7+. Expect video-game gunfire at bug monsters, a villain eaten by a Cy-Bug, rude humor and a martini.

One age: 13, set by the Catholic News Service A-II rating (Common Sense Media says 7+, MPAA PG). CNS flags mild cartoonish violence and rude humor. Common Sense notes shooter-game gunfire at aliens, a character eaten by a bug, a martini, and a kiss at Felix and Calhoun's wedding. A devil-like character, Saitine, appears for a gag in a villains' support group; it is a cameo, not a hero, but worth a word to young kids. Talk about it: Why did Ralph want a medal? What did he give up to save Vanellope? Is being liked the same as being good?
